PHILADELPHIA-- Len Beesley, the ever-present right fielder for the Philadelphia Phillies, is essentially out for the season, due to a torn meniscus.
Beesley, who filled the speedy leadoff role the Phillies had for him when they dealt Troy Tulowitzki and Preston Mattingly to get him, was hitting .340 with a .413 OBP, 87 runs scored, and 51 stolen bases, was hurt in the Phils' 8-6 win over New York on Saturday.

Scout Bill Bavasi "The draft last season really has people worried about the value of draft picks these days. I have tried to explain to clubs that the draft is always a crap shoot. Nothing is a guarantee. All of us have hits and misses...no club is perfect. I will admit that last season's draft might have been the worst overall draft I've seen; but I would contend that this seas...read more.
